In reducing dimensional uncertainty, the required components could be accurately manufactured, minimising the risk to the project due to manufacturing delays and errors.
A high-density 3D point cloud was created of a ball mill. The ring drive of the ball mill had to be replaced. Due to plant shut down constraints, all components required had to be pre-manufactured locally. The scan data was used to verify the actual machine dimensions against the supplied drawings.
